On May 9th, one day before the REFRESH final conference 2019 that was organized in cooperation with the Barcelona Design Centre, four on hands experience were offered, featuring food waste innovators from business and civil society in the Barcelona area. One of these was "Zero Waste Mission", a hands-on workshop on how to make bioplastics from food waste, organized by Ignacio de Juan-Creix and Irene Ródenas from PLAT Institute of Augmented Gastronomy.

One of these was a guided walking tour on food waste reduction at “Mercabarna”, the Mediterranean's biggest food hub, organized by Mercabarna Food Hub.

One of these was "Food-for-Thought: an Interactive Dialogue over Dinner about Food Sustainability in the City", organized by Mayya Papaya from Foodisms.

EAT, the science-based global platform for food system transformation, hosts the EAT Stockholm Food Forum that will take place on June 12-13, 2019 in Stockholm, Sweden. Leaders and experts in science, politics, business and civil society from across the world come together to drive progress, share knowledge and help coordinate action across sectors and disciplines to embrace solutions that will transform the global food system.

The China Chain Store & Franchise Association (CCFA) Chain Catering Committee and CCFA China Sustainable Consumption Round-table jointly launched the "Voluntary Action Plan of CCFA Chain Catering Enterprises on Food Waste Reduction Initiative”. The launch event on March 13, 2019 in Shanghai was witnessed and participated by 500 Chinese catering companies, with nearly 1400 people present. This event was supported by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the United Nations Environmental Programme (UN ENVIRONMENT), NET PLANET NETWORK, the IVL Swedish Environmental Research Institute, and the REFRESH project team.

The “FoodWasteEXplorer” is an online database that provides industry, SME, researchers, government agencies and the general public with access to the biochemical composition of agri-food chain waste streams. This information can be used to identify the level of certain compounds in different side streams so that the user can explore how food waste may be better managed and helps to identify market opportunities. The final REFRESH conference that took place on May 10, 2019 in the Disseny Hub Barcelona brought together 150 participants from all across Europe, China, Australia and the US to present and discuss innovative ideas for food waste reduction and valorisation options across the whole supply chain.

The final REFRESH workshop discussed options and recommendations to integrate policies for food waste in the broader contexts of sustainable food systems and the Circular Economy. Building on the results created within the REFRESH project, the workshop brought together policy makers and experts from research, NGOs and businesses to discuss EU policy options that go beyond efforts to reduce food waste and includes other sustainability aspects such as health and social impacts.

El 11 de diciembre de 2018 se celebró el 4º encuentro de la Plataforma REFRESH española en la sede de CREDA-UPC-IRTA en Barcelona. Teniendo en cuenta que quedan 6 meses para el final del proyecto, se presentaron los resultados más importantes del proyecto a nivel europeo y se hizo una evaluación de la evolución de la plataforma, que desarrolló 30 iniciativas en 2017.

On 11 December 2018 the 4th meeting of the Spanish REFRESH Platform was held at the headquarters of CREDA-UPC-IRTA in Barcelona. Taking into account that there are 6 months left until the end of the project, the most important results of the project at European level were presented and the evolution of the platform, that developed 30 initiatives in 2017, was evaluated.
