For the eighth time the members of the REFRESH Steering Committee did come together in Wuppertal to share latest activities to reduce food waste within specific sectors and along the whole value chain. This included news on own initiatives as well as concluding remarks on German REFRESH activities such as baselining (questionnaire results on qualitative and quantitative questions regarding availability and quality of food waste data and activities).

Furthermore, the group welcomed REFRESH colleagues Toine Timmermans (Project coordinator, from Wageningen University) and David Rogers (Coordinator of Voluntary Agreement activities, from WRAP) who presented insights about developments with regards to voluntary agreements in the Netherlands, the UK and worldwide. In light of the recently published National Strategy for the reduction of food waste in Germany participants welcomed these interesting information on how successful voluntary collaboration are shaped in practice.

While this was the final meeting of the Steering Committee in its present format and under the framework of the REFRESH project, CSCP as coordinator of the Steering Committee will continue information sharing – such as reports, policy briefs and other material prepared by the consortium - and support activities of its members until the official closure of the project.
