The REFRESH project presented at the EU Platform on Food Losses and Food Waste. The REFRESH Community of Experts was highlighted by EU Commissioner for Health and Food Safety Vytenis Andriukaitis

 

The EU Platform on Food Losses and Food Waste (FLW Platform) brought together key stakeholders from policy, business, academia, and civil society in Europe for a one day meeting in Vilnius on 24.05.2018. The day's topics included an update on the circular economy action plan, monitoring of food losses and waste and the SDG 12.3 targets, cities' action on food waste, a meeting of the High-level Political Forum on Food Losses and Food Waste, and a session on "consumer" food waste with presentations and a panel discussion. REFRESH partners made multiple contributions to the Platform meeting in Vilnius on 24.05.2018, which can be seen in the videostream in full. REFRESH coordinator Toine Timmermans (Wageningen UR) presented "Towards a circular economy in food: the role of public-private partnerships" (05:22). REFRESH dissemination lead Stephanie Wunder (Ecologic Institute) facilitated the afternoon session on consumer food waste (7:17-8:52). During this session, Dr. Erica van Herpen (Wageningen UR) presented insights from REFRESH consumer behaviour research on food waste (7:55), and David Rogers (WRAP) presented on consumer food waste behaviour change in the UK.

EU Commissioner for Health and Food Safety Vytenis Andriukaitis also highlighted the REFRESH Community of Experts online platform.
