The German PWP proceeds as planned: Thirteen representatives from retail, industry, NGO, science and associations came together on April 6 to discuss the aggregated findings of individual baseline activities as well as next steps for pilot projects.
Compiling individually data on current levels of food waste, hot spots, and potential reduction measures with the help of a baseline questionnaire was considered very useful in order to understand data gaps and improvement potential. The findings highlight that even though data is not yet in every detail available, conclusions can already be drawn and relevant activities can be defined.
Inspired by the exchange on the many exciting own activities conducted by the PWP members within their own companies and organisations, valid questions were raised to improve impact and practicability of the suggested pilot projects. Concrete discussions between the CSCP and a retail company regarding a pilot on employee engagement are planned for the second half of April 2017.
The 5th meeting of the Steering Committee is planned for October 2017, hopefully enabling the members to learn about the results of the first German pilot projects in the context of REFRESH.
