Dutch King receives food waste product gift basket at the Wageningen University Alumni Day

Saturday 23 June 2018 Wageningen University celebrated its 100th anniversary with the World Wide Wageningen Alumni Reunion. His Majesty King Willem-Alexander officially opened the alumni day on Wageningen Campus. Representatives from the REFRESH pilot initiative “Verspilling is Verrukkelijk” took the opportunity to offer a gift to the Dutch King: a basket full of food surplus products.

All over the world, alumni met each other to collect memories and exchange experiences for the day.

Representatives from the initiative "Verspilling is Verrukkelijk" (“Food waste is Precious”), including REFRESH coordinator Toine Timmermans, took the opportunity to offer a gift to the Dutch King: a basket full of food surplus products. He was seriously interested in the products, and the stories behind the social entrepreneurs. Pictured here next to the Dutch King are Chantal Engelen (Kromkommer), George Verberne (Jumbo Wageningen) and Toine Timmermans (REFRESH), who are all participants in the pilot.
