The Sustainable Food Systems Programme of the UN One Planet network is a multi-stakeholder partnership with the aim to accelerate the shift towards sustainable consumption and production patterns in all areas related to food.

The conference theme – Good Food for People and the Planet, Working together towards 2030 - highlights the interactions between natural resources, livelihoods, and nutrition, and underscores the need for applying a systems lens. In addition, it stresses the importance of sustainable food systems for the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The conference will strengthen strategic multi-stakeholder partnerships with key actors; deliver actionable recommendations; stimulate higher levels of investment; and trigger increased political commitment for transition to sustainable food systems. Renowned thought leaders and practitioners from governments, donor organizations, private sector entities, civil society organizations, research institutions, farmer cooperatives, and other food system actors will participate upon invitation. In this context, the objectives of the conference are to:

  • Take stock of progress since the 1st Global Conference of the SFS Programme, taking into account its conclusions and identified areas for future work;
  • Identify new food system challenges, including in the regional context of Latin America
  • Offer a dialogue platform to share experiences, exchange ideas, propose concrete initiatives, and highlight relevant tools, approaches and good practices;
  • Showcase concrete opportunities for responsible public and private investments in sustainable food systems, as a contribution towards the SDGs.
