Presentation of Erica van Herpen at the Bioeconomy Policy Day

How can we influence consumers to waste less food? Erica van Herpen talked about strategies to diminish household food waste. She argues that campaigns that emphasize the amount of food that goes to waste may backfire, and emphasizes the importance of social norms.

The presentation includes Erica's research results from the EU research project REFRESH and was given during the Bioeconomy Policy Day of the European Commission on 16 November 2018.

The objectives of the Bioeconomy Policy Day were to present and receive feedback on the findings of the review of the 2012 Bioeconomy strategy, raise awareness about the importance of an inclusive, widely shared agenda for Bioeconomy that is responsive to societal needs and aspirations, and to present points of interest and highlight synergies with the different Directorates Generals that have a bearing on Bioeconomy.
